Lesego Vorster was born and raised in Diepkloof Soweto. Having the love for drawing at an early age, he knew his path would involve drawing of some kind. He went to study and graduate with Honours from Wits with a Fine Arts degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Animation. After freelancing for two years, he went and taught at The Animation School in Johannesburg for just under 3 years before embarking on a journey to go do his Masters at the prestigious Gobelins l’ecole de l’image in Paris, France. He stayed there for just under three years before returning to share his knowledge with the youth who are interested in animation and running his own company, The Hidden Hand Studios, which focuses on high-end animation with a strong focus on African 2D aesthetics.
His main goals include having quality animation coming out of the continent, collaboration, transformation and mostly, for the future of the local animation industry, training and teaching. He has realized that one of the biggest lacks in the local industry is the lack of sharing and he makes it point to involve himself in helping out in as many reputable schools and colleges as humanly possible.
His passion lies in Art Direction and 2D animation. His clients vary from Triggerfish, Studio La Cachete, SpecialTouch Studios, Zerpoint Studios and MOZAIC Pictures. He aims to have more African youngsters travel to learn from the best in the world and bring back that knowledge to strengthen the local industry.
